Finding a reliable web host can be more challenging than wrestling a penguin in a tub full of apricot jelly. I know this all too well after going through a few web hosting horror stories of my own. Having a reliable web host is vitally important for business owners and entrepreneurs whose uptime can make or break their business.


A reliable web host can mean the difference between paying your rent or standing out on the corner with a tea cup in your hand.


Since finding the right web host is such an important task, here are ten ways to tell if your current web host sucks –



Their support staff thinks a Class C IP is a type of driver’s license.

You have Super Cache installed on your WordPress blog, but their shared servers still crash when one of your posts hits the Digg homepage.

When you contact their support staff, you are greeted by “Thank you kind Sir, how may I help you kind Sir?”

You have to prepay for 100 years, as well as sell your soul, to get their advertised price.

Trying to complete the sign-up form is like walking through a mine field.

They delete your blog due to an error in their billing system.

They cancel your hosting account out of the blue, and then have the audacity to tell you that you’re wrong when you call and tell them that you DID NOT cancel your account.

This actually happened to me, and although I’m not going to mention any names, <subliminal message>Startlogic</subliminal message> I would never consider using their hosting services again!



 


Their staff thinks private name servers are individuals who work in the food industry and keep their name a secret.

Their servers crash more than a drunk driver on new years eve.

Their support staff thinks weekly backups are something that you need in a bar fight.
